WHAT EVER YOU DO PLEASE DONโT MAKE A MANUAL OR EXL LIST ; )
NOTE: Barcodes can be printed from 2 areas 1. Tags -print barcode and Tags- print price tag 2. Purchase Orders- Non received purchase orders (or advanced search for purchase order). You will click on ship list and it will print barcodes form a button at the bottom of the list 3. You may come across things you have that were never entered into the system because they are no longer on the vendor price sheets or you no longer carry that vendor. These items need to be added to the system by editing the group they belong to in there is already a group in the system for them or by adding a new group.
REMBER THAT DUE TO PRINTER SETTINGS the settings may be different from what you do to print sales etc than from barcodes.
Options for first time inventory
Option 1: Take the Samsung tablets and manually go from item to item and enter the inventory on the tablet directly. You will be asked to select manufacturer select item number, enter qty, enter cost (If you still want to take the time to be EXACT which is you call but time consuming. Otherwise it uses default cost). Once all the items are entered you can go and print barcodes from the system for those items. You can print by location (for warehouse) and the price tags will print barcode on them if you select that option. Alternatively you can NOT barcode all current inventory and just start barcoding as you receive purchase orders. The barcode can be printed straight from the PO. Eventually everything in the warehouse will be received from an EZ Purchase order and the barcode will be on it.
Option 2: attach the barcode printer to a laptop or portable device. I have seen people either put them on a strap or a roller cart or chair. Go up to the item print the barcode for that item and then stick it on the item. Now have a second person with a second device such as a tablet or a laptop which the barcode scanner is attached to thru wire or Bluetooth. (the Samsung tablet with a wired or blue tooth connection is best) This person will be logged into Enter First Time Inventory. From here they will scan the item in. This process is slower but you are getting things barcoded and entered into inventory simultaneously. (from what I saw on the showroom that alone would be 2-3 days not including warehouse + 2-3 days for warehouse)
Option 3: spend a few weeks printing price tags for everything on the floor (include barcode label) or you can just print the barcode for everything on floor. Then print barcodes for everything in the warehouse. Once this is done, you will then start taking inventory. The inventory will be taken using a person or multiple people using a portable device such as a tablet or a laptop which the barcode scanner is attached to thru wire or Bluetooth. (the Samsung tablet with a wired or blue tooth connection is best) This person will be logged into Enter First Time Inventory. From here they will scan the item in. (2 weeks barcoding and 3-4 days taking inventory with scanner)
